Canon 70-300mm IS USM Macro?

I have recently purchesed the above lens from Kerso (very happy with the Lens and service provided) but the lens stats Macro on it but I cant seem to work it out am I missing some thing?

A lot of canon lenses are labelled as macro, but aren't 'true' macro lenses (beyond 1:1 magnification from real life to the sensor image). Macro just means it has a close minimum focusing distance. I think the max magnification with that lens is 0.26x. Invest in some extension tubes to increase this. Hope this info helps

As David said, not a true Macro lens and minimum focal distant is pretty average. Basically the minimum focal distance of this lens is 1.5 metres, to improve this you could use a canon close up lens, basically a filter that fits on the front of the lens. This allows the lens to focus at a closer distance and hence higher magnification of the subject, but don't expect great results. This lens can't take extensions tubes which is another way of focusing closer.

the lens was not bought for macro and was not mentioned on the box so I have not lost any thing just thought I might have got a little bonus, thought wrong
