it may be the most popular but are they making something better to take its place

I would think it's a very poor selling item now as most people would buy the newer IS version. Also I'm fairly sure it's been a discontinued product in the UK for a few years now according Canon catalogues.

THERE`S NOTHING IN THE CANON WEBSITE, SO MAYBE JUST GETTING RID OF STOCK BECAUSE IT`S DEAD MONEY?

Thats still expensive for the non IS version

got me scared there was planning in getting the Is version in January!

calumetphoto don't seem to carry it and 7dayshop knocking them out supposedly at below cost,

Is it being discontinued I wonder?
Calm down.

Lots of retailers don't stock it. I don't know why. But nothing's changed there.

As for 7dayshop selling them "cheap" - someone's having a laugh here. I've got 4 of these lenses, all bought this year, and I haven't paid more than £763 for any of them. If 7dayshop's £879 is "below cost price" then their buyer should be sacked.

I agree, they're probably the lowest selling 70-200L lens about, because if you can afford the f2.8, you're going to be able to spend that little more for the IS. Or drop down to the F4IS.
