Thanks mate

where I get battery grip ? what about ebay ? also will be ok I get 2nd hand L Lens too

Thanks

I have a 3rd party grip (opteka) for my 450D but I have to keep switching it on and off or it disables the camera scroll wheel and other buttons the grip has. I havn't tried it on the 500D. The genuine canon one I have allows me to use all the buttons without switching the grip off I have tried that on both cameras and its perfect.

I got the genuine grip from Kerso a forum advertiser, he also sells on ebay as flash camera, it was about 10 month since I bought the grip and his price was £95 back then.

I'd say go for a second hand one and if you don't get on with it flip it again. But I suspect you'll keep it.

If you've got the cash, buy one, you'll love it. Be aware it IS heavy though.
You can always upgrade the body, but L glass (looked after) will last you a lifetime.

Great lens, but its a heavy beast, the grip would be a good idea.

Another user with a 500D and I absolutely love it, I borrowed the one I have and it goes back this weekend but it is definately on my shopping list!

I have quite a few posts in the Zoo section from the WHF all taken with that combo if you want a look...

I also use a battery grip and it makes a massive difference :D

oops wrong thread. sorry

I'm currently lugging round the US with my 50D, it's an incredible lens but is VERY heavy! My camera bag weighs almost as much as my backpack! Would definitely recommend the battery grip with it.

I'm considering one too but unsure to upgrade my 70-200 f4 for it or instead of the lens upgrade from 40d to 7d. Decisions!

Yes it is worth it. Good glass first. Always. I have a 70-200 f/2.8L IS and it was (and still occasionally is) paired with a 400D. I finally upgraded to a 7D but even now I would say glass before the body...

Sometimes I use mine with my old 20D. Love the extra reach. b****r a grip, heavy enough as it is! ;-)
On the whole a lovely lens
