I currently have a version 1 Canon 70-200mm as above. I've searched on here but can't find anything on this subject.

If I was to dump a load of cash on the latest Canon 70-200mm F/2.8 IS am I going to see an improvement in IQ?

I shoot with a 7d mk2 & the existing lens doesn't give me any problems, but if I can achieve better results by coupling the camera with a newer lens then it's something I can look at.

Thanks in advance. Mark

for me it was a worthy upgrade, i found it snapped into focus quicker and is sharper wide open. i didn't ever feel unhappy with my version 1 but was pleased with the improvements in the mk2

I had no problems with the MKI but upgraded to the MKII mainly because I had some spare cash at the time and people were raving about it.

I haven't been disappointed, the most noticeable difference (IMO) is when the lens is being used with the MKIII teleconverters.

Thank you for all the feedback, seems like I'll be £1500 lighter in the near future!

If you can afford the upgrade, go for it. It's a belter of a lens and you certainly won't be disappointed

I am having the same thoughts. Should I trade in my mki and go for a new one. A friend has just got the mkii so when I have tried it out I will report back and let you all know.
