Hi, I have the chance of this lens but on looking through it off camera a small sharp fibre approx 2mm long can be seen in the centre of the element, I have taken a test shot and it does not show up on the image.

In order to make a decision on whether or not to buy and what to offer does anyone know how much it costs to have it cleaned.

Just not sure whether to go for it or not:shrug:

Just phoned Colchester Cameras and they would only do a full service at £150 :thinking:

Mal,

I've got 20 plus lenses and there's specs in every one of them if you look closely enough. If it doesn't show then it doesn't matter.

Try taking a shot of a white background at f22. If you don't see it then, you never will :)

Thanks for making my mind up Bob, I am going to fire off an offer to him and see what I can get it for, but will have to take into consideration that I may want to sell it later and get the IS version.

you will probably find it will move about anyway as and particles in my lenses seem to dissapear after a while!

It's a done deal:thumbs: now to try out this much recommended lens:)

Think I need a bigger camera bag now:D

Superb!! :D

You'll enjoy it lots and I'd say it's pretty unlikely you'll upgrade it either.

I've thought about an f2.8 and or IS version loads of times but always ended up keeping the baby and using the cash somewhere else, where I'll notice it more.

I can only just squeeze it into my 200 AW but it does not look comfortable:( so an upgrade is definitely on the cards.:D
