So I am thinking of upgrading from my old 500D to a 6D. I've found a good deal from eBay, similar to the price in DigitalRev, but this one offers 3 years warranty. This put me off because the price sounds to good to have the warranty. First time buying from eBay and the seller is not replying so I came to you guys.

Is there such thing as UK warranty for Canon that lasts for 3 years?

If it's that cheap it's seller warranty, NOT manufacturer warranty. Grey import.

What would that mean then? Sorry, kind of a noob in this stuff. All my gear was gifted so never had to buy anything.

You can't send the camera to canon uk, you return to seller, seller sends to their repair agent wherever that is, hk, uk, etc.

As such it's quite dubious if it will work. I might just send the camera and never see it again... :/

Well, if you're relying on a warranty from the retailer - and in this case it's clear that you would be - you have to ask yourself how much you know about them, how reliable and trustworthy they are, whether they'll still be around in 2 years, etc. Some "black market" retailers do honour their warranties, and I'm sure there are some who don't. Obviously, not honouring a warranty is an easy way of cutting costs and offering cheap prices.

Caveat emptor.

I have the 7D with a 24-105, never had any problems over the years, everything insured separately just in case, fingers crossed,
Jim
