Canon 650D - £20.41 from EBuyer.com - Pricing Error???

sometimes things work out - like the recent pricing error for the 100mm Canon 'L' macro lens on Amazon - sold by Amazon - for a couple of hundred pounds less than everyone else.. Not quite such a bargain, but still a bargain, and one that Amazon fulfilled... And it qualified for cashback...

Seem to remember a few people on here got a bit miffed when Tesco refused to honour a cut price Canon 60D and 17.55mm lens package.

Worth a punt from a reputable company, but 99.9% of the time it will end in disappointment and should always expect the sale to be refused (although I am more than happy with my 100mm L macro lens :) )

no sympathy at all. Everyone, including mods, happy to try and scam ebuyer and someone got burnt in the process. Tough.

You are entitled to your opinion and to express them as you wish. It is good that we live in a country where you can

I would say this - I did not set out to scam anyone or company. The price on the website represents an offer to sell and accordingly I offered to buy at that price.

As said in my earlier posts Ebuyer was under no legal obligation to sell to me or anyone for that matter. So they did not. That said, how smug would you feel now if they had!

Just took a punt!

£31 incl 3 working day delivery (ie Fri 3 April)

I know they are under no obligation to fulfill this order but paid with Visa so got protection so no loss situation (for me)

Lets see what happen but why not have a go. They take Paypal too!!!!

I'm afraid to tell you that your only protected with your credit card on purchases of £100 or more and forget security with paypal, you only get there full support when using paypal on ebay.

Many folk are not aware of these issues and get caught out easily.

what miffed people about Tesco was the fact it was still being advertised for 3 and a bit days after they started contacting people and cancelling orders

Not sure where you got that idea from, Paypal protection doesn't rely on having bought from eBay.

Well i hope it works better for you when you need it than it did for me. Paypal told me there full protection only applies when purchases are made via ebay, Their sister company.

I purchased some fishing gear from a online dealer and paid via paypal, never received goods and never got money back, Looked at going to court for it but it really wasn't worth the hassle for £20 worth of bits

Fortunately for everyone else, you were given bad information. Unless you pay with Paypal Gift you are covered by Paypal in most instances.

Sorry Dave but I didn't pay as gift and I didnt get a refund even though I put the transaction into dispute, I even approached my credit card on this issue and it was then I was advised the payment had to be £100 or for for them to respond.

The Tackleshop gave a tracking number to paypal stating posted, the parcel tracking number belonged to never got delivered and showed up as that on royal mail website.

We had similar happen some time ago, when the seller puts a false or non functioning tracking number you need to phone Paypal and tell them, they will then check the tracking number themselves and rule (we got a full refund) after investigating.

The fake tracking number trick is tried by eBay sellers as well, so it's possible to have the same issue with an eBay transaction.

It's also unfortunate you tried to claim using section 75 (which is only applicable over £100), you should have asked the bank to use the chargeback scheme, it works well, especially if a Visa card was used.

Thanks for your reply Dave, It wasnt a false tracking number it was just never delivered ( I assume package was lost/damaged by royal mail) And it wasnt from an ebay seller but an online fishing tackle shop who where well respected by others.
As for using section 75 I wouldn't and didn't know of such I just rang the credit card company and was advised not covered.
Paypal took the same stance of the tackle dealer that provided the tracking details that it has been posted and out of their hands now, They have done all they can.
I tried several times to argue my point but got nowhere with them, 3 month later I closed the paypal account.
 
Then claim from Royal Mail?


I cannot do that as the contract to deliver said goods was with the sender, Only they can claim. Which I believe they should have done and re-embursed me.
My wife is the local post mistress and she advised me that royal mail/post office will only deal with claims form the contracted person IE the person/people who paid for the parcel to be delivered.
This all happened over a year ago.
