I have had my 60D for 4 months now and I would like to know if other 60D users find the screen gets very dirty a lot more then other canons.

Before I had the 60 I had a 450 and that never really got dirty but the 60D does.

Has anyone tried screen protectors or anything ?

Cheers
Ben

Mine is fine. I also had the 450D before and can't notice any difference. Maybe it's the new blue coating that might make it look dirtier.

I think thats what it is. I just spend a lot more time wiping it

No wonder its dirty if you are going to "whip" it maybe try to wipe it :D

I've noticed it picks up grease quite easily - I think it's because the surface is so reflective you notice it more.

bought a pack of proctectors on fle bay main screen and top. they are so thin in the packaging the wife thought they were rubbish and chucked them.

the screen does get oily from the side of my face resting on it, might have to wash my face in swarfega next time.

I switched from 450d to 60d and I also noticed the screen gets streaky I always have a microfibre cloth in my bag and I try to remember to turn the screen inwards when I am using the viewfinder to save it from getting make up on it LOL

I just cut down a really cheap iphone screen protector. Seems to work just fine and only 50p or so to replace every once in a while. Dont think i could be bothered turning the screen round all the time.

Good idea I have loads of iphone protectors so I will try that.

Got a boxed set of Lenspen gear in Jessops sale a couple of years back and it included a LCD Lenspen

Really good and use it on all type of gadgets with screens, presumably they can be bought separately and worth a look I reckon

Sorry to butt in but for those that upgraded from a 450d to a 60d, was it worth it?

I've been looking at either a 60d or a 7d and money is a bit of a factor. I really like the flip screen on the 60d, greasy or not.

I love it. I also changed the lens to 17-85mm. I didn't really look at the 7D as it was out of my price range and it may be strange I wanted to stay with SD cards. I
Don't regret upgrading. Also I do you it a lot for video.

i cut a screen protector down but it ruined the sharpness of the screen so i just got a ggs glass one for 7-00
problem solved

Can you still fold the screen away properly with the glass screen protector on?

Biggest change I notice from the 450D is the much better iso performance and build quality. If you can afford the 7d then get it otherwise 60d will suffice. The 450d however is still a very capable camera and there is very little difference in image quality.

It should be fine as screen protector is so thin.

you can still turn the screen round and fold it in but it does not make the final click into place
now i have the ggs screen protector fitted though i do not bother to rotate it when i put the camera away

Cheers for that. Have you noticed any visibility changes/losses since fitting the ggs?

I've not really noticed that it gets any dirtier than any other camera I have used.

I do tend to fold it in when using the viewfinder and always clean it with a microfiber cloth after use.

no looks as sharp as normal with the ggs fitted and i just feel happier seeing as it can be rotated and flipped etc
when i put a plastic screen protector on it made the screen look a bit mottled
i have one on my lx5 as well
