Canon 600D Slight Build Quality Issue?

Hi Guys,

I've had my 600D since August and have been very please with it.

However I have noticed that the bottom part of the hand grip on the camera feels a little loose and you can hear it 'click' when you grip it tightly.

Has anyone else experienced this with their 600D, or am I just being paranoid?

Is it worth me taking it back to the retailer?

Many thanks

Hasn't happened to mine, and it seems pretty strange anyway.
Is it still under warranty? If it is, then I suppose it couldn't hurt to bring it up.

Hi, did you ever resolve this issue? I have just received my new 600D and am experiencing the same annoyance. The plastic casing under the rubber grip appears to move slightly when held and makes a slight clicking sound. You can actually feel it move slightly when holding it.

I was wondering if they all do this as your post is the only other mention of this I have found. Did you send yours back or is it just something I have to live with? Out of interest is your 600D manufactured in Japan or Taiwan? Mine is made in Taiwan and wonder if that means poorer build quality :|

Just checked my 600D and the build quality is fine and it doesn't have an issue like this.
Mine was made in Taiwan also. :)

I've just got the Kiss X5 (Japanese version of 600D) and it feels very solid, no clicks or creaks at all. Mine is made in Japan.

Hi,

I did manage to get the Camera exchanged, after some persistence!

The sales person was adamant that this was not an issue, and wanted to send it off for repair. I was having none of this. I explained my cousin has the same camera and does not have this issue, neither does the stores own display model! (Which I'm sure is held and used everyday).

I also said I don't expect this sort of build quality on a £700 camera. I got an exchange in the end!

I hope this helps!!

Ps - Where was the camera purchased from?

Hi thanks for replying all. I purchased mine from Amazon (got a bargain in the xmas lightning deals for £450 after cashback). Despite not paying full price I was still somewhat upset at the build quality. My brother has had a 550d for over a year and his does not do this either. I have been round trying demo models in stores and they all seem solid too (Taiwan and Japan built). I was also under the impression all bodies above the 1100d were made in Japan, but apparently that is no longer the case. I have till the end of Jan to decide whether to exchange it or not (if they let me). I can't justify spending the additional cash to get a metal body one like the 7D. I may ring Amazon and see what they say.

Give Amazon a call, you've got nothing to loose right? See what they say. Oh and my 600D was made in Taiwan.

Did it come from Amazon or one of their marketplace sellers and 'fulfilled by Amazon'?

Was from Amazon themselves, not a marketplace seller, so shouldn't be a problem. Just worried that they will say there is nothing wrong with it and not let me swap it. Normally with amazon they just send out a replacement item straight away then you send the other back after it arrives. Not sure if its the same for high value items like this.
