If I've understood correctly, there are lens 'corrections' which can be loaded onto the 600D. Are there any for a Sigma 18-250 and a Sigma 150-500?

I haven't heard that. You can get Sigma to calibrate you lenses to YOUR body. Just be aware IF you sell the lenses they will be set up for YOUR body!

And I think it's only needed if you are aware of a problem with your shots, not something thats needed as standard...

Don't forget if you change your body and keep the lens, you may well have to send it away to be sorted again...

It's here on page 111 of the Manual:

'About the Lens Correction Data
The camera already contains lens peripheral illumination correction data for approx. 25 lenses. In step 2, if you select [Enable], the peripheral light correction will be applied automatically for any lens whose correction data has been registered in the camera.

With EOS Utility, you can check which lenses have their correction data registered in the camera. You can also register the correction data for unregistered lenses.'

And I had to type that in because Canon have locked the .pdf version of the Manual against copying: 'You cannot edit or copy this document'!

I have a 60D which also has the Lens Correction Data, and it works on my Canon lenses but not on any of my Sigma lenses!

Canon software can correct for some lens aberrations, namely chromatic aberration, distortion and vignetting (peripheral illumination). The latter option, vignetting correction, is also available in-camera, the other two only if you shoot Raw and process in Canon's DPP software (free, on the CD).

The software picks up the exif settings, so it knows the exact lens characteristsics at the particular focal length, aperture, focusing distance etc, and is pre-loaded with corrections data for Canon lenses. Not Sigmas.

Some third party programmes, Like Lightroom, are loaded with corrections data for a huge range of lenses, all brands, hundreds of them.
