Canon 5d4 battery drain problems

I got myself a new 5d4 last October but for various reasons hardly used it at all over the next six months. When I did get it out of the bag the battery had drained either completely or partially despite the camera being switched off. so I returned it to AJ JOhnstone for repair under guarantee. They apparently exchanged various circuit boards; perhaps it was just cheaper and easier to do that than find out exactly what the problem was?

Anyway I've started using it again and it seems to be going through battery charge much faster than my 5d2 / 5d3 ever did, and I suspect there may still be a problem.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Is there a known problem on 5d4's which causes battery drain or does it just not have a very good battery life?
 
Do you have GPS enabled and or WIFI?
 
You're not the only one. I'm not very impressed with the battery life of my 5D either.
I used to shoot with a 6D and the batteries seemed to last forever. I even forgot to turn the power off a couple of times and the battery still had charge after days without use.

Now, I can change the battery in a morning shoot. Granted I use live view as I mostly shoot landscapes, but nothing has changed from the 6D to 5D. I even have to remove the battery if I'm not going to use the camera for a few days because the battery drains even with the camera off.

FYI, WIFI and GPS are both off.

Interesting to hear that it's not just me. I never had any problems with batteries in my 5d2 or 5d3. I hardly ever bothered to switch them off and they would fire up straight away - no charge lost.

Is your 5d4 still under guarantee? if so I would ask that Canon have a look at it. It does seem to be a common problem and they ought to know about it. We shouldn't have to take batteries out to prevent battery drain!

Yes, still under guarantee, but looking online seemed to suggest that this was common so I've never bothered about it.
I've just put it down to more powerful processor etc and bigger, better screen (which I use a lot). Maybe I should have it looked at at some stage.
