Canon 5D Water damage?

Been out shooting today in the rain. Tried my best to keep the cameras dry. 1D Mk2 is fine. 5D is not.
When I turn it on now, although I have power no problem, I have lost all the functions buttons on the left and the top, and the camera seems to want to focus the lens without me touching it.
I'm guessing this is water damage? Tried to dry it out with a hair dryer but no luck.
Any advice out there?
Thanks,
Rob

Leave it turned off for a few days, ideally somewhere warm and dry. Remove the lens, leave the body cap on, just wipe the contacts and lens mount dry.

Put a body cap on and bury it in cheap rice for two days. The rice draws the moisture out without damaging the camera. Worked a number of times for some of my friends.

Id suggest taking out both batteries ASAP and leaving them out whilst it drys out. More damage will be caused by leaving them in.

Why didn't I think of that? Cool idea....

Thanks fellas.
Camera now buried in Co-Op's finest Basmati.
I'll give it a couple of days and post the result.

Hope it works, if not I caught the end of a new item on the gadget show this week that worked on a mobile phone they had got wet - went into the sea with it on purpose and "drowned it" and it booted back up after being in this bag for a while - might be worth a 5 OD catch up ???

That was it.

Cheers

Just taken it out of the rice. Been in for about 20 hours. Works like a charm. Amazing.

If it's any consolation, there were press photographers all over London doing exactly the same yesterday! :D
