Canon 5d problem

5D mirror has fallen off :/

Hi just wanted to get some feedback on what to do just recently bought a canon 5d on here it's not within warranty and I was just shooting outside today and the viewfinder went fuzzy after a few seconds of confusion I took the lens off the find the mirror had fallen off and was pressed against the lens, it's completely come out the camera any idea of price or where I can get it fixed canon is new to me and it's only the 3rd time I have used the camera.

It was a design fault with the 5D classic and i believe it was originally fixed by a recall from Canon.

My mirror came off my 400D, it was under warranty so it was fixed free+full service. I would say contact canon Ellstree, quick repairs, mine with mirror off error 99 there and back 4 days, they picked it up by courier and delivered back by same, iD ask them how much

Canon Elstree are good but not that good; they are shut on bank holidays. :)
 
Haha ok suppose I will let them off for having a holiday if they can fix it for a free repair, thanks for the help guys.
 
Mine did the same, dom't worry.

Just give a proper canon service centre a call, it's a free repair.

Mine did it a couple of months ago.

I used Fixation to repair it
 
Happened to mine too. It had a scratched sensor when I bought it an Canon thought that the mirror had caused it so they replaced it. It might have helped that the note I put with it said that I took a few more photos pointing at the sky after and I didn't know if it had damaged something.... hehehe

Also worth checking if the mirror scratched the rear lens element and if the shattered in any way then you should get canon to clean the housing and sensor for free too. This happened to me and tiny shards went everywhere.
