Canon 5D MKIII official owners/users thread, anything related to the 5D MKIII

:shrug:noticed on Panamoz, .. 5D markIII £2040 ..and seperate 24-105 £593
thats just over £2600

kit price same site just over £2800

They've never been that good at keeping the price on the site upto date. The actual price on items could easily be lower when you enquire about them.

Beautiful picture, what lens did you use?

Thanks Mani :)

I used the Canon EF50mm f/1.4 (along with some natural light and a couple of prayers that she'd stay asleep long enough for me to take it) :D

Thanks Si, I'm sure you'll get plenty more. ;)

Was that price including TP member discount and 5% BT discount?

I'm confused!

I read elsewhere on TP that there's no TP discount with Panamoz, just the 5% BT. Could someone give me the definitive version please as I may well be spending quite soon.

I ordered from Panamoz recently, and only had the BT discount. No TP discount.

DigitalRev say they give you priority shipping for being a TP member, but that's probably a sales pitch?

Not sure. It turns out they spotted me on here and my stuff was here from Hong Kong in 2 working days (paid Thursday, received Monday). If that's not priority I want a go in their TARDIS :D

Hi all, my black rapid strap scratched a bit of the painting off of the bottom of my 5d3 where u screw it on and was wondering if there his a way to paint it or somehow repair it again?

It got scratched when it's connected to my camera and inside my bag.

There is no special discount for TP members, everyone can get 5% discount for paying via BT, the only concessions are those offers from Panamoz that are exclusively for TP members such as these

I just took a few photos, messing around with the focus features of my spangly new camera :D In typical law of the sod, I put the CF card in the reader and my reader died. Argh!

Huh? Why is that lucky?

I have been on a different forum thread chatting with him while delivery was in progress so it was more a follow on from there than here lol. :)

Failing the abovesuggestion... if you have an SD card, put the SD and CF card in, and copy the images from the CF to the SD card - assuming you have an SD card reader.

Greats shots, the clouds do look on fire. What were your settings for these?

Click on the title under the image, his flickr page will open, then click on "EOS 5D mk3" above the map and the exif data will then show :)

anyone taken a picture, same setting, same subject, same lens but 5d2 and 5d3 as a comparison?

Good question re the gps speed. The camera was still but I was far from it, running around trying to keep warm. The GPS logger was on my bag under the tripod though so should have been still. Odd.

Unless the GPS has got a really good lock then the position will be varying around the actual location due to the error (google CEP - Circular Error Probability/Probable). This is what contributes to the dubious GPS speed. Nothing to worry about in this context.

Well i have to take my hat off to UK Highland Photography.

Sent my faulty battery grip back on wednesday, the replacement has just arrived.

I can't fault that service at all!

:agree:

I had exactly the same service from them as well... It's nice to be able to give an online firm some positive publicity!

I'm currently in a pub in Chester after a day on the Lady Diana tour boat, eating hotdogs and taking photos :D

This is my first day out with the camera and my god it's awesome. Some of the photos I've got look great on camera. Can't wait to process them when I get in!

....i've had one of those hotdogs down by the river in Chester! ... they are nice;)

looking forward to the comparison from 60D to new 5D3 ..crop to FF, etc

if you would share your thoughts that would be great as i'm thinking of taking the pluge myself

It's the weirdest experience to be honest. I expected to miss the reach from crop, but it just seems right. The images seem richer than the 60D and earlier I took a photo straight into the sun at a bush and its given great contrast. The image is nothing but I expected a blown shot as I'd get with the 60D.

I'll post more later/tomorrow as my mate just came back with my cider :D

Oh and the 70-400 f4L is stunning on this camera. It's ridiculously fast, sharp and accurate.

Bizzarely I've found my 50mm 1.4 sigma to be not as good on FF. I'll look into that more over the next week as I'm wondering if I need to calibrate it for the 5D.

But yeah, buy this camera!
