Canon 5D MKIII official owners/users thread, anything related to the 5D MKIII

Had the confirmation and tracking this afternoon, I'm like a kid waiting for christmas day:nuts:

Where are you buying it from?

Just had my UPS dispatch info from Panamoz (ordered yesterday afternoon) fingers crossed should be here on Friday - big thanks to everyone here for recommending them, would of never have brought it for what amazon/jessops are asking.

Do Panamoz or DigitalRev provide a VAT receipt?
I am just wondering as I got mine from Pixel_uk on ebay and paid £2200 incl VAT (and now its dropped down to £2100) with a 3 year UK warranty. I got a VAT receipt and if you're buying for work you may be able to reclaim the VAT which makes it even cheaper.

Picked up the 100mm F2.8L is macro too the other day for £575 with next day delivery :-)

Do it. I got it from Dr and same saving.

Alas, I won't have the funds until November :(

Even then, I'll have a dilemma...
  • 5DIII body only - use existing lenses until I can afford better, or
  • 5DII with 24-105L

Given that my EF-S lenses and Tammy 17-50 won't work on FF, I'll only have the 50mm 1.8 and Sigma 105 to use on the 5DIII until I can save up for better glass, sometime next year....

replace your ef-s lenses with ef ones first, once all sorted, you can get the 5d3 :)

:agree:
That is the normal route, then by that time it may be cheaper again :)

Thanks guys. I know that's the "normal" route, glass first - then body, but I've been putting off a new body for 3 years now and quite frankly that's 1st on my shopping list now.

Mate i am currently using a nifty fifty and wow it transforms this lens when used on a 5d3!!! it such an amazing lens now!!!

i also have a 70-200 f2.8 mk2 so i wont comment on how breathtaking that is lol but the nifty fifty is PERFECTLY fine and it will last u mate trust me

FWIW i would go for the body as well and yes i know that's the wrong way.

You have some glass now and the 5D2 is great but just so you can get the 24 105mm you have almost that range with primes anyway.

Once you have the body if you dont own a crop camera sell the other lens and add it to the savings for a new FF lens wide maybe depending on your style.

Good luck any way

Allan

Haven't checked prices recently but I seem to remember people saying that you can get the 5D3 + 24-105mm from Panamoz for pretty much the same price as just the body in the UK.

So kid yourself that you bought the body only from the UK but actually buy the kit from Panamoz for the same amount.

Win - win.

There is a pocket wizard flex Beta update available now!

Cheers fellas, you've convinced me. Come November it'll be the 5D3 body

Lol...my wife never spends that much on my Christmas present :shake:

Ah, but if you buy it yourself and hide it under the tree it must have been Santa.

i am able to get between £3k and £3.2k for my three lenses and 7D, and will always have access to the 70-200 until i can buy another one for myself if i so wish. so with this in mind would you guys go ahead and get a 5dmk3? i am all but ready to do it but maybe just wanted some thoughts/opinions outside from my head :)

i'm not into anything particular photography wise its an all round thing for me.

i would probably buy a body and try and source a newish 24-70mk1.

Buy the body and kit lens for 2.8k in Dr and spend the extra 200 on accessories or maybe a ticket to somewhere in Europe for a holiday to test your camera

Hi

I had the 7D great camera but the 5D3 is VVN you would love it, if you buy import at £2k say that would leave money for the used 24-70mm and maybe a bit over for a flash or gps tagger memory card or perhaps you need a software update for the Mk3 raw files LR4 or CS6 perhaps.

Just keep in mind that the FF means the 70-200 is way shorter lol

£3000-£3200 might be a bit of a reach but you should still have enough for what you plan if you go the Asian import route.

I have fallen in love with this camera, after just a few hours, my 24-105L never looked this good before.
I can't wait to get out properly now and get some nice shots.
Just a few from my first couple of hours playing, first time with a FF, man what a difference:D
Not the best shots by a long chalk, b ut I'm happy with the way they've started out.

Only a small thing, but the AWB is so much better in this camera.
Shooting today in shade then bright sunlight and stuck it in AWB with a 5D2 and a 5D3.
The 5D3 was consistently getting better results than the 5D2 which was giving a much more "bluey" tint to the shots.

Not a major thing i know as tbf adjusting WB is irrelevant as you can chage it in LR, but nice to have :)

Got mine this morning from ian at flash camera.

Love it, what an improvement the AF is to the mark2

Had a quick play with the 24-70 2.8 L and 70-200 2.8 IS II and I can see they will get on well together.

Now to go somewhere and enjoy.
