Hi,

Looking around at prices for the Canon 5D MkIII, it appears the The Flash Centre are currently one of the cheapest at £2,949.00, and they have a special offer that includes free 32GB 500X Delkin CF Card.

So if you want to save a few quid…

Wish I had the cash!

Cheers,
Tony

NB: Very satisfied customer, no other link to TFC.

Hi Guys, Russ here from The Flash Centre. First of all, hi Tony! Hope you are well mate.

Just a test post as I am not used to forum posting. I have a rant pending, but not sure if this works, so will wait until tomorrow to see if it is still here after a lie-in! xxx

Hmm... not quite sure if i'm onboard with your signing up just to rant, to be honest, neither are we happy if you're here to "pimp" your company... If however you wish to make postings as a private individual that are helpful, informative and balanced, then welcome aboard. Anything else... I suggest you press the "contact us" link at the bottom of the screen first and run your prospective post by the Site Admin before allowing it onto open forum, where it could result in unfortunate consequences for your future posting priviledges...

Mmm not sure if I've missed something here but Cameraferret (fast becoming my second home!) shows 2 shops cheaper than £2949, I've checked them all out and there are no freebies but still cheaper nevertheless...

Apologies if I've got the wrong end of the stick...

Hmmm,

Maybe I should've been a little clearer...

Cheapest price from a reputable UK retailer (in this case a Canon Pro dealer), selling officially imported goods with a warranty unequivocally supported by Canon, with bricks & mortar stores where you can go for expert advice and support (or sometimes just a coffee and a chat!).

Now I fully understand the desire to save money (hence my original post), but as a pro I would never buy a grey import of something that's essential to my business. I want somewhere I can go to in times of equipment trouble, chat to someone who really gives a damn and will do whatever they can to help me out. That service and safety net is not a free commodity and I'll happily pay a little extra on the original purchase price to get it - although I'll still shop around and very politely ask if they can knock a bit off the price.

If photography is your hobby, then losing your camera for a few weeks while it's repaired abroad (shipped at your expense) is annoying, but not an insurmountable problem. You saved some money at purchase and, fingers crossed, you'll never have to contact the supplier in times of trouble.

So don't just look at the ticket price of that tempting bit of kit, consider what hidden extras you are also buying - or not.

Cheers,
Tony

Looks like Russ has not got anything constructive or useful to post. Best he left.

But the price from TFC does seem to be pretty keen for a UK sourced 5D MK3.

I thought UK digital were 'non-grey'? Am I mistaken?

I have used them in the past thinking they are all legit...

No, I think you're correct as their website says they only supply UK/European sourced goods.

And Kerso/Flash Camera is even cheaper with a valid UK warranty.

Understood, cheerio

sorry you feel you've nothing further to add to the forum Russ, but think of it this way.

If you were the landlord of a pub, and a stranger walked in, said hello and ordered a pint, then said "oh, by the way, when I've finished this drink, I'm going to kick a couple of tables over, and spill everyones beer, and cause a load of work for you to clear up" what would you do... Yes, you'd have a gentle word with them, and suggest that doing so wouldn't be in their best interests, and perhaps they aught to just enjoy their pint and behave like a civilised person instead.
