No I think they will name it the 5D MKII.
It's a professional camera (prett much), and they name their pro range (1D and 1Ds) with the Mk I/II/III badge.
Who knows how many new versions they will make after the next one, they can't have it going all the way up to 10D - it will clash with the actual 10D.

it'd have to be more than a facelift, considering its nearly 3 years old. Guess it will have all the new tricks that the 40d has, and with a few more pixels thrown in.

Me too, but I can't help wondering what there is to improve on the 5D, given its a tool for a specific job.
Everything can be improved upon, but for it to be a worthwhile upgrade its gonna have to do better in other areas.
I think it ought to be a completely new camera, upgrades are money spinners, not necessarily worthwhile.
