I had been longing for this for sometime to complement my 7D which I must say its a stunning camera.

First impressions? I am bowled over. First few images below and some more coming up, including a timelapse if I manage to pull it out :)

Thanks Pete,
II notice you have the same camera setup :).
I got the 7D when they were released and it has served me fantastically well. I need that for that type of work I do but as I needed a backup body I knew the 5D MKII was the one to go. Couldn't wait to get my hands on one and yesterday the gods smiled at me and got my hands on a brand new shiny one :). Just couldn't put it down yesterday and gave it a good spin.

Ditto as i am really into birding, but since then i,ve got into landscape and macro (and been roped into doing product photography for our website at work) and the 5D II is just fantastic for that style.
Problem is now that i have appox 5000 images to go through and edit cos i spent all the time behind the lens. :D

Lovely photo's, wOw!

Is there better quality using the 5D Mk2 compared to the 5D Mk1..?

Well, I have never used the 5D but had always been longing for a FF for a while. Although I do get pretty good results with the 7D but there was something extra that I knew certain images could be gained by the FF.

Thank you for all the kind comments by the way

I have a Mk1 and have looked at a few website comparison shots of Mk1 vs Mk2 tbh I prefer the results shown by the Mk1, the Mk2 has other redeming features though e.g bigger files for more "cropability" etc.
Never tried a mk2 (dont trust myself :) )

Agreed some really nice photos at the top of the page.

Matt

@ Matt, I have never used the MKI so can't really say anything on that regard. But I can definitely say that this one is really fantastic.

congrats amin hope you enjoy that full frame goodness.

Thanks Scott.
It was a hard decision, I was close to selling off all my Canon stuff and moving to Nikon but then the D700 doesn't offer me the Megapixel I needed and I couldn't afford the D3X :)

I am still not sure if the decision was good. I miss that AUTO Iso :)

You'll get over it :)

Matt

I am sure I will :);. There is something magic about the 5D MKII that I immediately got so attached to it and I am afraid the 7D might start feeling jealous about it all lol.

Putting it to full paces this weekend starting with a portraits shoot and the little one's birthday party. FF all the way now :0
