Yes
I had made up my mind with the help of the forum
to buy a used D750. Unfortunately the used prices are out of my range at the moment thanks to a huge MOT bill for my car.

I've seen a couple of Canon 5D Mkii selling with lenses that I could just about afford now if I sold
a couple of Nikon lenses to add to the funds.

The most important thing is low light performance
as I do a lot of gig photography and night cityscapes. I also do some events, sports and
landscape photography.

Wondering what others think of the 5D mkii or if
I'd be better holding off and saving for the Nikon.

In short, the Nikon is in a different league.

I've had 2 x 5D2, 2 x 5D3 and now have 2x 5D4.

D700 spanks the 5dmk2 in low light and can be had for peanuts and you won't have to change your glass.

Better still wait until you have the ££££ for a D750.

canon 6d is a great low light performer but only on the centre af point.

This is what I did, try and save a small amount each month till you have enough to buy one. Otherwise you will soon be upgrading..

Thanks for the replies!

It looks like saving for the D750 is probably my best plan!
Here's hoping my D300 back up doesn't follow the other
one to camera afterlife in the meantime! :)

I moved from the 5D2 to the D750 when it was launched, different league. The AF of the 5D2 is awful in comparison and the files are so much easier to use, hang fire until you have the money.

Thanks! I reckon if I buy anything else I'd always be wondering if I
should've waited and got what I wanted!!

Decided to wait till I can save the rest and
go for the D750!

You never know, Nikon might release a successor to the D750 soon (though I've been reading about the imminent 760 for about 18 months)... and the price of the 750 might drop a little. Are you looking to buy new or second hand?

I've been watching ( and hoping) for the new model to be announced in the hope it will drop the prices for the D750. At the moment I'm looking at second hand but wouldn't rule out new if a new model led to prices falling on the older one.

I got my d750 from Hdew for just under £1300 - They sell them now for £1349 with 3yrs warranty. I can tell you first hand that the d750 is a beast in low light. I have shot 10000 iso in churches and they have been
stunning sooc - I'm a noise freak and hate it, but the noise at 10000 is a really nice and soft noise. I shoot in auto iso and never fret if I hit 10000.

Raymond, slightly O/T but how do you find the Low Light performance of the 5D4?

The honest answer is I don't know because aside from a small project (daylight) I have not used it in a proper job yet where I really have to push its limits. Next wedding is in 4 weeks' time so I'll find out.
