I've just took receipt of a 5D3 and have no Canon lens at present to try but think I've found an issue. Can someone check theirs ans confirm please?

When I click AF Drive and turn the dials I can change single shot etc but the AF remains on 'M Manual'. Without a lens on the camera can this be changed? I've tried it in all shooting modes on the camera to no avail.

Replicate:

1 - Turn camera on without a lens.
2 - Press the AF Drive button
3 - try turning the cog at the shutter button to change this.

Thanks

Damn it's been a while since I had a 5D3. I think I've found out that this is correct and a lens needs to be attached to change the mode. If someone could still confirm that would be ace thanks.

Surely the camera needs to confirm you've attached an AF capable lens to switch to AF?
The camera doesn't af the lens does.

Thanks for confirming folks. It's been about 5 years since I had my last 5D3 and have just came from Fuji which all of this stuff in manual on dials and switches. Lost my chain of thought etc and being a numpty but ah well. Cheers homies.
