Just trying to find out if I can use the 580ex flashfun wireless on my 5d mkii,

help please
 
I use pocket wizards cos I like to use TTL sometimes. If you don't mind using the flash in Manual mode, you can buy radio poppers from Flash In The Pan in the advertisers section.
 
The 5DII can be used to wirelessly trigger your 580EX but you'll need to buy some extra gizmos first. Canon do the STE-2 and there are those mentioned above. Some use infrared and others use radio waves, some retain the ability to use E-TTL.
 
whats the best (cheapest way) i currently have the 430exii but would like to upgrade to the 580exii and use it wireless.
 
They look OK, but I'd rather buy from FITP as so many others reccommend him.

Pocket Wizards and Radio Poppers are brands of E-TTL wireless radio triggers. They are both over £400 a set and FlashInThePan doesn't sell either of them.

If you want wireless E-TTL flash, then you need a master controller on the camera. The 580EX is a master and flash gun combined, the ST-E2 is a master-only unit. Both operate using optical signals, which have some limitations such as in bright sun when the signal gets swamped or lost. The way around that is radio with the PWs or RPs (with RPs you still need a Canon master unit as well).

If you're happy with manual remote flash, then the cheap radio triggers that FITP sells are very good (Yongnuo RF-602). I don't know about the ones you have linked to - they're probably fine, but some of these things are rubbish.

Something else you have taught me Richard :). I thought poppers were another word for triggers, so where I wrote poppers should,ve read triggers.
