Hi, I'm Johnny, and am new to this DSLR style of photography, having just messed with bridge style cameras I decided to move up a peg, and a huge move too, bought a canon 550d and managed some great photos so far in particular some great sun sets and a crater filled shot of the moon, I'm quite into my astronomy, I bought the camera and it came with a canon lens 55-250 lens, I was wondering what kind of settings i would need for such shooting and what kind of pics I could get with this lens, I have tried some shots but they virtually came back all black.

Thanks beforehand for your help

Johnny

Hi Johnny and welcome to TP.

There are a few folk on here who have got rather good at astronomical photography, e.g.

Not something I have tried, so I cannot help. However, if you post your question in the Talk Photography forum many more members will see it and you'll get some advice.
Those that are deeply into the subject have specialised kit (telescope and tracking mount etc.)
