Canon 550D

Evening all, I recently got a 550D and loving it. Any advice would be greatly received. Also looking for a new lens. Looking at the EF-S 55-250mm as seems to ok for the price. Anybody had any experience of this lens or recommend another one. Need just for general photos at moment until I get more experienced.
