I'm thinking of buying my first DSLR after using a Canon 350D recently.

I have been looking at the new 550D but wonder if anyone can offer advice or useful feedback on the camera.

Also i am looking to get a zoom lens, i've been looking at the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS or the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 IS USM Lens - again can anyone offer and advice or feedback on either lens or which you would opt for.

I mainly want to shoot landscape and wildlife at the moment.

Any advice help or information would be really appreciated :)

For landscape neither will be that wide. I haven't used the 55 but the 70-300 is a cracking lens, I used to love it and it also comes very highly recommended by others :D

Sorry should of said i am going to buy the camera with standard 17-55mm lens that you get.

The 55-250mm is about £200ish and the 70-300mm is about £420ish, do you think the extra cash is worth the extra 50mm?

I could of sworn i have read somewhere that the 55-250mm produces better quality images but i would rather hear from other peoples experiences on here.

The 55-250mm is a cracking lens for the price, unless you want the additional 50mm reach then it would be a good purchase.
I enjoyed using the one owned.
I've only briefly used the 70-300mm but from what I have seen, it's also capable of producing very good images.

If you decide to go for the 70-300IS then also look for a 2nd hand Sigma 120-400mm OS at around the same price as the new 70-300.

You won't regret it if you find one.
