Just a quick one before I decide to send it off for repairs.

Had the 55-250 for about 7 months now, unfortunately it's started to give Error 01. Oddly, it only gives the error on longer exposures and if it's stopped down from wide open.

I suspect it's something like a stuck blade or something similar, but has anyone had the same issue? The recommended course of action (i.e. cleaning the contacts) did a whole pile of nothing

If anyone has had the same issue and solved it (or not) please let me know before I got through the warranty process.

Cheers, Daniel.

I have this lens but this does not happen to me, If it was a stuck blade then shouldn't it shoot "Funny" shots on quicker shutter speeds?

you could always try and "unstick it" by whacking it on Multi-burst and just fire the camera off for a while...?

orther then that, have you checked all of the connections to ensure they are clean?

Yep, all connections clean - tried single shots, multiple shots etc. It seems to take one image fine but as soon as you go for anything like a slightly longer exposure it just throws up Error 01. Tested on two 40D's and both gave the same error.

I think it's a repair job, good thing theres about 6 month left on the warranty!
