Canon 50MM Advice

I have: Canon 5DII, 70-200 F4, 17-40 and 24-70. All great lenses, but I want a faster lens for night shots and one that's lighter and gives good bokeh.

That leads me to the 50MM range.

However, I am stuck on which to get. The Nifty fifity 1.8, the 1.4 or 1.2 L lens. Or course, I expect the L one to be quality, but it is very pricey. I therefore am perhaps more interested in the other two, but are there big differences between them and is the plastic body a problem with the nifty fifty? I am also concerned about sharpness and falloff when wide open as I'm wanting one due to their wide apertures.

Or should I stick to the 24-70 for my 50MM needs?

Any advice would be great.

I've had both the 1.4 & 1.8 neither of which impressed me... The Sigma 50mm 1.4 Is a much nicer lens.

Everyone has a different opinion on these lenses, but results speak for themselves.
check out these threads, I did and ended up with the 1.8 version and am very pleased with it.

John:)

Thank you. Will have a look :)

I believe the 50mm f1.4 is included in the current Canon cash back promotion.

Sigma f1.4.

It's big and fat and heavy but it lives on my 5D and seems to win many reviews against the Canon f1.4.
