Couldn't resist any longer and ordered one from Warehouse Express yesterday afternoon.

dont forget to post some pics from the new toy!

Enjoy :)

Actually if you order before 12.00 noon from WE you usually get the stuff next day. I've found them excellent in that respect.

Yep, I ordered mine at 15:40 yesterday and it arrived today at 1pm!

Not had time to take some test photos but have attached it and it's the fastest focuses lens in my kit now and the quality from the LCD looks brilliant so looking forward to testing it out :D

Here's a couple of quick test shots all taken on the EOS400D ISO100. Nothing done, just a resize so all the EXIF should be there

A selection to see how well it throughs the background out of focus etc. The coffee mug was taken at point blank range with the plant being about 2 metres behind. The printer is about 5 cm in front of the lamp.

It really is the best lens out there for the money. I bought my 400D body only and bought this lens as my first lens. Haven't regretted it at all. Infact buying this lens has made me want other faster lenses, most of which I can't afford. Ha ha.

I am amshamed but i never use my Nifty fifty. Apart for low light events

It's fun playing around with the nifty-fifties, especially in low light or to try some pics with really narrow depth of field.

Hum - I've played with the nifty50 on tour lens, I borrowed a collegues 50mm f1.4 with a view to buying it, but I don't think for my use it gives me much over my 24-105 f4 L

Have to say though, for the money the 50mm 1.8 really surprised me. It looked tiny, felt cheap but produced great results

We had a thread a while ago - acsking which peoples most, and least, used lenses were, and it got a huge number of us on here somewhat ashamedly admitting that we don;t use our nifty as much as we ought to! Wonderful little lens, wouldn't be without mine - in fact it goes around in the bag with me as I know I can use it "at a pinch" as a portrait lens at speedway if my 24-70mm dies on me again - but I rarely actually take the poor little beast out of the bag and attach to the camera....!

To be honest i dont use mine either, got it from here a month ago used it twice and now its just sitting in my bag.

I've had mine over year now and don't think I have ever used it in anger:'(. I must use it one day

Just got one of these from Kerso, amazing lens for the price - love the way it gives a very sharp result in good light and a very natural softer image in lower light with literally no DOF at 1.8

It's a bit soft at F1.8 would love to see a test side by side with the F1.4 and the F1.2 L.

I had 2 1.8 and both of the focus rings fell out on me!!! one my husband dropped, not from a great height just a little bump, but enough, and the other i did nothing to but had the same problem so my advice is to look after them they are fragile. So now i have the 1.4 which is a much better build, for little old bother boots here!!!

I love my 50mm for three reasons

It's the sharpest lens I own
I can use it in low light and get good results
It makes me think about composition and not just snap away.
