Seen the Canon 50mm 1.8 for £76 at Amazon. Is that a good price people? I don't know how much they go 2nd hand as i cant access the for sale section so wanted to know if this is a good price to pay new. I am looking to buy one.

I think they make £60 to £65 on the secondhand market, so this seems a bargain price

Yeah it's a very good price and, as Stephen said, they don't go for much less used so you may as well buy new :)

I'd buy now- good price from a reliable retailer. Much cheaper than the Nikon version although to be fair to Nikon theirs does have build quality.

Yea, better build quality but the optics are supposed to be cracking?

The optics and image quality are very good from the f/1.8. The only thing that lets it down slightly is the 5-blade aperture ring, which can lead to pentagon-shaped bokeh effects but that's a minor issue considering the price :)

The canon f1.8 lens is sharp- no doubt about it and I'm not sure I'd buy the Canon f1.4 anyway- disappointing sums that one up. The one I used was returned for a Sigma and it doesn't seem to be an isolated event either.

I think Kerso sells them for £75 posted on here...

I was really happy with mine a really bargain for what you get but as previously mentioned build quality is a problem especially for heavy use it has a plastic mount.

They are a great lens and for the price you cant grumble... however mine just went funny after 1yr, and about 50 shots
