Hi folks,
First timer here, first post etc etc...
I currently have a Canon 350D and am looking to upgrade. The choices..
50D: The next logical step up. Not too expensive, allowing me a bit of cash to spend on glass.
5D Mk1: Prices should come down over the next few months as the Mk2 pre-orders start getting filled. I have seen several forums arguing over which is better for low-light shooting (5D or 50D) and some full rez pics on a high ISO seem to indicate that the 5D is much better, which I was quite surprised at considering the new tech in the 50D. The full size sensor also appeals, but never having used a full frame camera, I couldn't know for sure.
5D Mk2: OK. This would be a "save up for" job, or a wait until the prices start to fall. The video capability of the Mk2 is definitely of interest, as well as its shineyness, probably longevity and high ISO. I only really want to upgrade once more, so would this be the better option.
All my glass is EF, the 18-55 EF-S kit lens is (IMHO) a piece of junk, so swapping to the full frame camera isn't a problem from that point of view.
My photography work is varied. I have no specific preference at the moment, enjoying landscape and portrait equally. Not much of an interest in sports or wildlife, so the 50D's burst rate isn't that important. I do like to use natural light rather than flash though, hence a keen interest in high ISO ranges (at the best quality).
All photos are taken in RAW, developed in Lightroom and touched up in PS if required. I'm thoroughly enjoying the results of HDR landscapes.
Any thoughts?
