Canon 50D £530

Bob, I know they only have one, FIP I know it is used, that does not alter the point of my post considering what they cost new.

Or maybe like cheap holidays when it comes to buying said "bargain" they say it has been sold but.................

It probably is a twist on the US style "bait and switch" selling. They get you on the site and then try to tempt you with a different product (maybe a 40D in this case). The original offer looks so good that the price quoted for the switch item is assumed to be good too....people buy the alternative but then find out that it's 15% dearer than elsewhere.

As you said Mal....probably too good to be true.

Or the "Brooklyn" scam, the battery is £100, the charger is another £100, the CF card is £200 etc, all of which you must buy from them to get the camera at that price...

I have placed orders with this company and am just waiting for Amazon to say that the order cannot be completed/fulfilled or whatever. There was a lot of spurious ads on Amazon Marketplace a couple of years ago but they seemed to have managed to stamp it out. It is now creeping back in again.
I have recently ordered a D300 for £470 and a D700 for £870, OK Iknow that they are probably bogus but one of these days I might get lucky (pigs do have wings don't they?).
There are at least three 'companies' trying this on and they usually have the cameras at similar prices for some reason.
With Amazon they guarantee to refund your payment in the event blah blah.........(not like paypal where their 'guarantee' is worthless).
It's worked so far - I can't see what these people are gaining or am I being naive?

There were two companies yesterday offering a used D300 for £470 and I was dead tempted to order one.
I guess from your post that you didn't receive yours ? I did think it was too good to be true.

Edit: 1 still available for £470. If anyone orders it, please keep us updated as to whether or not you receive it ?

Yes, I will certainly let you know the outcome.
Previously failed attempts were with 'Netlink Office Supplies', 'ATMT' and 'UK Battery'.
Current order stands with 'Global Gizmos' who are also 'selling' the Canon 50D.

hi taz any word or feed back on your purchase the only way to try this would be with a credit card if all fails at least you can claim back the money

As expected, my orders were cancelled today. I was going to complain to Amazon but I can't be bothered, but if I see these sort of ads again I will.
