Canon 500d or Nikon d5000

im in the same position and getting my first dslr soon, what alot of guys have said to me is go to a shop and get them in your hand and see how it feels.

Go with what feels best to you...

Personally I have the Canon 500D and love it to bits but it is personal preference.

As Ryan says its personal preference, I have a Nikon D5000 and love it to bits. :)

Thirded;)

No substitute for getting your hands on one and see which one feels best for you.

When i started thats what I did, ended up with a canon 400d as that is the one that felt right for me, the Nikon at the time did not float my boat so much

Both Canon and Nikon(And the other manufacturers) are putting out some good kit so whichever you choose will serve you well.

The only other thing i would add as maybe look at 2nd hand kit as well, that way you may get a bit more for your money:thumbs:

Do you know anyone else with a Canon or Nikon dSLR, as it can be useful having knowledge, experience and/or compatible kit to borrow, even if it's just to try out something before you buy.

I got a 500d from argos with the kit 18-55mm lens for £519. Im still getting used too and l really like so far.

Had a look at the nikon before and in my opinion the canon felt better in my hands. Guess that would depend on the size of your hands though.

Really need to go and have a play to find out for yourself.

Great advice there...

Does it feel nice...

Can you figure out how to use it without reverting to a manual..

Can you set the ISO, white balance, adjust the shutterspeed etc..

Which one feels more intuitive ?

wtc..
