i want to get a longer lens but am not poncy enough to go for the 70-200L series. I have used, for an afternoon a 70-300 and loved it.

anyone have more than speculation as to when the 50-250 will be released?

for me it'll be between that, the 70-300 or the 70-200 f4 IS - at a stretch.

edit: i have the kit lens, the nifty 50 and the 17-55 2.8 atm. with a 400D
 
Do you mean the 55-250 IS EFS lens? ( the 55-200's have been around awhile and are available) If so I have been watching this closely to as I fancy one. The release date seemed to be pushed back, weekly from Sept. Pixmania had a couple in thurs, sold out by Fri.
Half a dozen on fleabay (from HK ) at a good price Fri, none there today. ( not looked since lunch time though)
Looks as though its a popular lens
 
yeah the 55-250 - i hadn't even seen it on sale. I have been looking at park cameras site and they are still nly mentioning pre-orders.

looks my xmas pressie to self will have to wait.
