Does anyone know much/anything about the Canon 450D, supposed to be out in about a month's time?

Will it be a baby 40D?
 
I'd be surprised if it was. The 400D's not been out that long has it?

EDIT: Guess I got that wrong then. Doesn't feel all that long ago since I bought my 350D.

Yes, but you get the idea! There are a number of websites saying the 450D will be here end of next month. Just wondered if it was true?
 
I too would be shocked, but then I guess the 400D has been around for a bit now. Still seems odd to release something so soon. 5DmkII would be very cool, but just dont see the point of a 450D
 
I'm guessing that Canon are planning to launch something soon as they've finally decided to turn up at focus on imaging.

Previous releases have all been around the time of the major US shows
 
I had decided to upgrade my 400D to a 40D, but now I'm going to wait until next month I think to see what the 450D will give us.
 
That what im planning on doing instead of getting a 40D wait and see what the 450D has to offer plus hopefully it still take the Canon BG-E3 grip.

New 5D end of Jan and 450D in Sept. Perhaps also even a new model next year.

would make sense as the 400D is now avalaible for about £350, truing to clear stocks before the launch of the new one. I did hear today that Canon are expected to make an announcement round about the 20th of Jan on 2 new models.
 
The word that I have is yes, a 450D is possibly due in or around FEB as per Canons marketing strategy. Also, the 400D is currently due a decent price cut in the new year. You heard it here first.

From what I've heard, the 450D will be here next month (and your diagram also sort-of agrees with that :thinking: )
 
Nightmare.....now my 350D will be two models behind or am I just being the green eyed monster, Does anyone still think the 350D is a good camera? cause I'm now getting confused to how out of date Iam................

It doesnt matter how old your camera is, they dont take worse pictures over time. A newer camera wont make you take better pictures in general, im still using my 20d and I dont intend to upgrade anytime soon.
 
Mole2k , you are of course right , just thought it might prompt some thoughts.........and I am being a green eyed monster as always.

I think that would be a bridge too far considering I have placed an order with Kerso for an F4L just this very morning, I think that will give me satisfaction I require, well for a while anyway!!!
 
I'm still using the 300D as my main camera. Have been looking at getting a 350 but looks like i will wait for the new year and see if i can pppppp pick up a bargain 400D body only.
 
I dont want the 450d to come out soon ive just got my 400d, i dont want to be behind on these new trends you know !
 
I've just registered on here after researching rumours on the Canon 450D. I've had a Canon 300D since August 2004 which I've been perfectly happy with until recently, when it just stopped working in November. The cost of repairing it I've been told will be between £160 and £200.

So rather then repair it immediately, I'm seriously considering upgrading to the 450D first instead, and repairing the 300D down the line in late 2008 to use as a spare camera.

It's good to hear that it may well be out by February 2008 but that is cutting it a bit tight for me since I would like it for my cousins wedding in February. If it's out by the first week of February then that would be perfect :)
 
Once its announced, get yourself on the pre-order list with Warehouse Express and other dealers so you get it as quickly as possible.

If it doesn't turn up in time, maybe you could beg/borrow/rent a replacement until the 450D arrives.

If previous new product launches are anything to go by, forum speculation is reasonably assurate, but then Canon in Korea or Malaysia accidentally leak specifications a few days early.
 
It's odvious that the 450D will be out in the first quater of 2008 - the life cycle for the 000D seris is 18 months, so time is up for the 400D.

Not sure what they will do to it, there's not much they could do to stop it from being worse than a 40D.

Perhaps a bigger LCD (3 inch), better buffer, better AF? Putting a better sensor in it would make it above the 40D so it's not likely.
 
Well I hope they announce their intentions soon. I am almost at a financial level to allow the purchase of my first DSLR and I had settled for the 400D. A little more saving and in a week or so, its all mine.
 
Traditionally new launches have been done at the PMA show rather than the CES show which is on now, last day tomorrow. Someone has mentioned an announcement on the 15th, probably with a public launch at PMA, just to get journalists excited.

Can't see the point of a 320D, after all you can still buy a 350D, even when its successor is about to be replaced. Sensible idea would be to reposition the 400D at a new price point, and put the 450D where the 400D is now.

Just after a 450D is announced would be an excellent time to go for a 400D, since it's bound to push the price down.

I need the live viewfinder feed, so I'll be first on their list for a 450D if it has this feature (particually as, on paper, it will take better pictures than a 40D). Weight and size is also an issue for me, and I feel the 40D is too large (for what I will use it for).
 
Depending on the full spec I think the 450d will be my next purchase (after my 430ex and possibly a 50mm lens hehehe).

Just come back in from talking to the Manager of our London Camera Exchange. I asked him about the 450D etc and his buyer has been booked to go on the buyers launch on the 24 January!!!!:clap: He thinks the public launch will be very soon afterwards. Im going to wait for a while to see what happens to the price of the 400D before buying. They think the 450D will be introduced at £500 - £550, but there is no confirmation yet. Oh Poo, it means I have to wait another 2 weeks before deciding and getting my hands on a DSLR for the very first time :bang:
 
Anyone got any idea if the grip from my 400D would fit the new 450D?
