I am new on this site so hello everyone:wave:

Okay so im looking for a new hobby and for some reason, the only things I have ever seemed to want to do as a hobby is photography!

Im expecting a baby this month so im pretty bored at home and need something to do on maternity leave especially when i leave the house for those really long walks with baby

so to cut long story short.....which camera would you recommend for entry level? Canon 450D or 1000D??

I see myself working with models as i jst gave up models and i know models who would pose for free for me and i like the idea of taking pictures of scenery when out for my walks

Any recommendations??

I've got the 1000D and it does me just fine as a beginner. There isn't massive differences between the two, to be honest I was looking at the 450D but thought I'd save some money seeing as there wasn't a big difference in performance and buy a lens or two.

Best thing to do is probably go to Jessops and have a play around see how they feel in your hand.

If you can afford the 450D go for it:

7 focus points 1000D VS 9 focus points 450D
3.0 fps, unlimited, 1.5 fps for up to 4 RAW frames 1000D VS 3.5 fps, 53 JPEG or 6 RAW frames 450D (very useful for sports)
LCD 2.5 " 1000D VS 3 " 450D
Metering 35 area eval, center weighted, partial 1000D VS 35 area eval, center weighted, partial, spot
Effective pixels 10.1 million 1000D VS 12.2 million 450D  10MP is more them sufficient

What I miss in my 1000D, spot metering and the faster fps ;)

0.5 Frames faster isnt that much better. The only I would miss would be the spot metering, you dont need a 3inch screen.

Price wise, £350 for the 1000D, £450 for the 450D, its not worth it I dont see. If you cant find a 1000D for £350 and its £400 then its worth it buying the 450D.

There is less than £100 between the two.
Mano X has beat me to posting the specs of the two so I will just say, the 450D.

Dont Argos sell the 1000D for £348?

I have seen the 1000d for £300 and the 450d for £400

I guess if i can get the 450d for less then ill pay the little extra for it but as i am no pro and i do believe that i will not know all these features straight away let alone use them them alll

But i guess i should try and get the 450d if i can but if not the 1000d should do me just fine:D

If you are shortly getting a new addition, then possibly the 50mm f/1.8 lens will be a cheap addition to your kit lens, and allow you to take some nice baby pics.
This will cost somewhere between £60-£80 new, but it might be worth it as there will be a large difference in the depth of field you could create.

Thanks Laudrup! Any day now!!!

Coldpenguin- I think I have found somewhere when i can get the came and the 50mm f/1.8 lens inclusive. I was also advised of this so thanks, at least i know the person was talking sense, lol
