Hi guys,

Apologies in advance for being a pain but i was looking at purchasing a new
camera as a replacement for my Fuji S9600.

I had been looking at the Canon Eos 400d but after some advice,i have
been looking at the 450d.

I was trawelling the net looking for the best price etc & came across the
Canon Eos 1000d which looks very nice with a good spec.

Has anybody any experience with the 1000d & which would you recommend?

Thanks in advance.

450D, if the cashback offer's still on, or a used 400D for me!! :D

Update, according to CameraPriceBuster.com, the 1000D body is about £320 and a 450D body is £421 but you get £50 cashback (whereas you don't on the 1000D) so you're looking at a £50 difference between the 2 bodies, so spend a little bit more and get the 450D I reckon!

A Nikon D80.

Thanks guys for the advice.

Looks like i will go for the 450D as my budget is around the £450 mark.

Hopefully i will have the time Wednesday or Thursday to pop out & spend.

Thanks again

Best i have seen so far,is the basic package from PC World for £480 incl vat
& just mins down the road.

Others i have seen for around £450 on Ebay (new, boxed) with free delivery
but i would be prepared to pay a little extra & know it exists.

I havent been stitched up on Ebay yet but there is always the first time :)

Warehouse express are doing it for £456 including delivery (cheapest price on camerapricebuster.com). You might be able to get your local Jessops to pricematch this.

Photoplus magazine compared the 450D and the 1000D.
The 450D came out tops and I agree.
You won't regret getting one, I haven't :)

Back in june I was having a similar dilemma - 400 or 450.
In the end, I was convinced to try a second hand 30D in my local camera shop and I was instantly sold - it feels so much more substantial in my large hands and I havn't regretted it once.

Found one for £350 including the 18-55mm lens and snapped it up!

450D over the 100D

Hopefully picking up a 450d from Currys tomorrow.

£412 incl cash back.

Yeah,i thought it wise a wise choice too.

I popped down to my local Curry's this morning & actually used one.

It felt nice in the hand with easy to reach controls.

Lightning quick compared to my previous camera's :D

I have also looked on the Bay & found some good prices but with
my local shop i can go bang on the counter if i have any problems
at a later date & the price is acceptable for me :)

Will get some pics up when my SD card arrives (8gb £13.89 Sandisk).

according to review 450d is much better, same dilemma for me between 400d and 450d

400D & 450D aren't that far apart - the only reason I moved up '50D' ;) from my 400D was the 450D's liveview and spot metering. That said, having the briefest of gos with totalfusion's 40D, I can see the appeal of a bigger camera, so you may wish to wait until 50D sales start to kick in properly and get a 2nd hand 40D for 450D type money?
