Canon 40D Remote shutter release?

Hi,
I had looked into many triggers ranging from ebay to reputable brands and finally settled for Hama wireless trigger. It is decent and fires everytime.
I would also ask you to consider Hahnel brand as it has a bulb and rapid fire function. hope that helps.

Hi,

I got a cheap wireless one off eBay for my 40D. It works great for what I want. There's a little battery sized plastic reciever which plugs in to your camera (housing the battery). You switch this on and a little red light comes on. Then using the remote (with extending 1980's style ariel!), you can trigger the shutter.

Press the button 1/2 way and you can autofocus. I usually turn AF off though when using a tripod.

In BuLB mode, if you hold the button down for a second it 'locks' the shutter open for as long as you like until you press it again. Magic!

My tip: Take the battery (a CR2 I think) out when you're not using it, or it will go flat.

I'm a fan of the wireless remote ones which have a button (powerless) option too on the other half. the decent ebay ones are around 20 quid ish
otherwise almost anything will do the trick for you

Seeing as theres a lot of experts here, can anybody tell me if these wireless remotes fire from anywhere - a young guy in Jessops told me they only fire with the trigger pointing to the front of the camera. Is this true?

I'm certainly not an expert, but I recently bought one of the £20 wireless remotes from ebay (item 370262199295 UK source -offer of £17 accepted) for my 40D and it works without direct line of sight and allegedly up to 100m, only tried mine to 15m though. I'm very pleased with it.

As above, I believe the 400D remote works via infrared, so therefore needs line of sight.

HTH.
