I tried google but couldn't find anything, maybe its just me being stupid but here we go.

Is there a way to keep the settings permanently displayed in the viewfinder on a 40D? It seems on mine that they appear when I press the shutter button half way, and then disappear about 10 seconds later. I know I can look at the LCD but its convenient to look at the meter through the viewfinder when composing a shot...
 
Nope I dont think there is. It's a power saving thing.

lol yea I just got used to it being there all the time with the Sony. No biggie though
