Hi there, I am completly new to photography and have just purchased a canon 40d. Does anybody know of any courses in and around the Worcestershire area? I am based near Evesham. Thank you

Have you tried your local college?

Although there are plenty of online tutorials and posting your images for critique on this forum is a great way to learn.

Jessops do Canon specific courses, I can't recommend as I haven't done one but they're listed on the website

Don't worry about a course read the manual section by section. There also some vids online if you look. Save the course fee and buy summat else! Ps I have a 40d if you're struggling

Local college is a good shout. Many of them offer an 8 or 10 week `introduction to digital photography` course or similar. Some will be running summer schools now we have reached that warm, dry time of the year...

I had a DVD, Magic Lantern, that I found good when I had a 40D. Might still have it somewhere.

I had blue crane DVD for my 20d it was great, but you need to watch then try then watch then try.

Do you want 40D specific instruction (in which case reading the manual should be your first step) or general photography instruction?

Thank you all for you comments etc. I am just completely new to photography full stop. I have read the 40d instructions but I find it very confusing and to be honest I am a much better tactile learner so thought I would pick it up more easily face to face. I think once I can understand the basics etc I will feel more confident. :)

Where are you based Anna? There maybe some members close by who you could buddy up with and get advise from. Also joining a local Camera Club maybe an option.

Explore the different options before going to the expense or commitment of a course. I understand where you are coming from, I learn more from watching and a face to face tutorial than thumbing the manual for 6 months.
