Ebay Argos Clearance store - new item but old stock clearance Canon 40D kit £546 + £13pp. Don't know how much of a bargain it is not kept up with 40D pricing but seems to be what you'd pay if you bought a second hand body and lens separately on Ebay.

If you just wanted the camera I could buy it, keep the lens and sell you the brand new 40D for £400+p&p? That goes for anyone that wanted to do so. :)

Exactly the same thing I was wondering. I have a nice L glass line-up so am not interested in the 17-85 at all.
 
Well it looks like they're going quite quickly so I hope someone on here gets a good bargain.
 
Still really tempted by this, seems to good to be true though.
Should be legit enough though, proper new goods, and valid warrenty.

I've had a 400D twin lens + battery grip kit from them about a year ago for and I got one of the EF-s 60mm macros I posted the other day, both were listed as new items and I have no reason to doubt that - Both came quickly and are exaclty as expected, untouched original packaging and all manuals and warantee cards etc.

So I'd have no problem recommending their new items but I probably wouldn't go for a refurb unless is was an esspecially good deal.

Wow that is cheap, i'm glad I stubled upon this thread :)
Warehouse Express has that lens listed for £407.99 that makes the body as cheap as chips then you remember it is brand new! - £150 for a brand new 40D !!

I will decide in the morning as well but I don't think there is much to think about !

I want one. Anyone know if there is another way than paypal to pay for it? I don't have enough funds in my pp and my credit card is maxed! :bonk:
Transfering funds will take a week minimum and I bet they will all be sold by then. :thumbsdown:
 
If you have a bank account linked to your PP i think it will just take the money out of that if your PP if empty.

I think it's my credit card that's linked to it. How do you tell what's linked to it as it was so long ago I set up the account?
 
I am also tempted for the body but worried about the secondhand price of the lens dropping when you all flood the classifieds with them !

The lens seems to go for about £200 in the classifieds but they don't move that quickly !

Ah didnt think about that, something to consider I guess.
Tough I probably wouldnt sell the lens.
 
I ordered it last night, quite excited now. It is a legit seller so don't worry about that. The lens I ordered on the weekend turned up yesterday in perfect condition :)

When you sign into paypal to pay a couple options should appear.Just click on the options for payment and mark the correct payment source.

Well I've ordered mine :) I read reviews on the lens and they said that it was good if a little soft at times. It compares it to the 28-135 IS and says that the 17-85 has the edge over that so i'm happy
 
Hi,

typical s/h prices for the 40D body are around £400 and the 17-85 usually advertised for around £160 - £220 but watch for how many actually sell used, not many. So it's only really a bargain if you keep as a kit for yourself, don't expect to sell the lens for £200+ on any of the Forums as it just doesn't sell at that.

yip well done, I had one liked it, it's a very useful walkabout lens :thumbs:

I was only pointing out to the would be profiteers that not much is to be gained even on eBay once you take off about 11% in fees using eBay and Paypal and that's if it sells to someone outside of Nigeria :p

I don't know if the lens is just hard to sell on forums or people don't want it but there is a few on there now that say "this was a lens that I didn't want from a kit " It would seem people are trying to make a profit here :P I think they will struggle though after being haggled down inevitably and then postage.

I only wanted it for myself however having never owned a new DSLR! and the lens as a replacement for my sigma 18-50 3.5-5.6

Ross2 - I'm going to place an order tomorrow if I have enough money in my paypal. I would be willing to sell you the lens. How much would you be willing to pay?
 
The lenses do sell, they sell on here too but many on here are more likely to be wanting to trade up from that lens rather than buy it.

I sold one on here for £175 early last year but others went not long after for £220 so somewhere between those seems a fair bet.
 
decided to bite the bullett and order one of these as an upgrade from my 1000d. Anyone advise on the cheapest/best place to get a decent compact flash card to go with it now ?
id like to sell my 1000d with less than 3000 clicks and only about 6 months old on here how much is it worth with the is kit lens?
ahhh guess i cant put it in the for sale section till i have 100 post count. pity guess it will have to go on ebay then which is a shame

Looks like they are all sold now !

I guess some people are looking to turn a profit on these given they have bought lots of 5s and 8s !

Well done matt2martin for spotting an excellent deal. I managed to resist for a day or so then decided to hop on board. Not a moment too soon as they all went in double quick time.

I see plenty of multiple purchases in there... so no doubt a few more of these bodies and accompanying lenses will be surfacing over the next few weeks.
 
It arrived but only with 18-55 IS :'( the box says 17-85 USM IS kit on it and it was sealed so I don't know how it got in there :thinking: but it is a pain cause I have to exchange it... if they have any left
