Hi Guys,

Don't know if anyone can help me out here. I was having some trouble today with my 400 2.8 today at a game. It feels as if something has got between the tripod mount and the lens barrel. Does anyone have any idea how to get the tripod mount off? The model is the one before the first IS model.

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks,

Ben

Sounds exactly like a broken bearing roller I had on a NON IS model I owned a few years ago, only solution was a £400 repair and replacement of the old steel rollers with brand new carbon rollers, made a massive difference and was very, very smooth afterwards.

I'm racking my brain to try and find out who did the repair and can't for the life in me remember, I do recall it wasn't a canon service centre but a small independent repair shop.

I deffo remember finding the solution after a google search.

Okay Gary, thanks for that. I have a game to cover tomorrow, just hoping it will last that and then I will get it up to Canon as soon as I can so they can have a look at it! Just hoping it doesn't do any damage to the lens at all...

Thanks,

Ben
