Hi guys, i started a thread on here about 2 weeks ago about buying a camera, since then i have bought a Canon 400D that i am chuffed with, but inevitably, i would need to upgrade the lenses in a bit!

I have seen a lot of lenses close to where i live but dont know if they will fit my camera!

So, basically my question is, will the old canon film SLR camera lenses fit the new ones?

I know, if they do i wont have the benefits of the AF and that sort of thing!
but i started off with film cameras, so doesnt bother me that much!

Thanks for all your help on the last thread aswell!

Dion!

Any Canon EF lens (auto focus, film or digital) or EF-S (cropped sensor digital) will fit and autofocus.

Anyone got any info on this?
Wow. You waited a whole 11 minutes before bumping the thread. That must be a new record.

Craikeybaby is right. Any Canon EF or EF-S lens will fit and will autofocus. Canon switched over to the EF mount around 1987, so really old film lenses (FD mount) won't fit, but anything made in the last 20 years will be fine.

ho do i know if they are EF or Fd?
If they are EF it will say so somewhere on the lens, most probably on the rim at the front. Like this:

If they are FD it will say so somewhere on the lens, most probably on the rim at the front. Lke this:
