Canon 400D

I would pay the extra and get a new one, thats a refurb and only has a 90 day warranty, and i'm wondering if it is a uk or usa warranty because it says in the listing "We carry a valid business license in the State of New York, and provide a valid invoice for warranty registration."

much as i hate pointing Jessops out, they are doing the 400D with kit lens for 480 notes. take off the £50 from canon as a rebate and the an extra £10 from jessops website as they have a sale on (enter the code for £20 and it gives you £10 - but then again it says its not for camera purchases). mine cost £420, brand new - doing a 'collect at store' (you dont pay until you pick it up) is the way to get all the iscounts.

HTH.

good spot:D

i'm a bit worried as, after searching about i'm going to buy a camera bag (lowepro slingshot 100) from Curry's!! eBay has been a big disappointment mostly - apart from Kerso's shop (lenses)- the slingshot bags were going second hand for more than a new one in currys - a google search puts the currys price on the first page too.

Ill be getting a computer from PC world next! (fret not, ill be getting a mac, at a discount, not from pc world);)

i recently bought a 400D from curry's...it cost £500...that encluded a lowepro bag and 1GB fast memory card...PLUS £50 cash back....it seemed ok at the time...what do you think? ....please don't say it's not a good deal!!!!.....jackie

Thanks for the suggestions, never realised the ebay one I found was a refurb unit.
I currently have a Panasonic FZ5 compact. It got wet in the rain yesterday and isn't working now. It switches on takes one photo and that is it. No zoom nothing. Any guesses on how much to repair?

The fact that canon are doing a £50 cash back deal at the moment for uk warrenties makesd it a lot cheaper anyway....
We are doing it for £479 at currys, and doesnt look to be coming down in price anytime soon!!
jackie: that seems like a good deal, as memory cards cost a bomb at currys, and the bags aren't cheap either!!

Hi

I'm new on the forum and looking for some advice. I bought a silver Canon 400D with lens in January for £500 from Jessops. Have hardly used it and am looking to sell it or part exchange for a Canon Powershot G7 Compact. Have tried putting the camera on e-bay but no good offers. Does anyone know of anywhere else i could put my camera up for sale / exchange. I live in the North East. Am selling all the gear that came with it too.

Thanks

Lindsay

I bought A 400D, that exact pack from that buyer on Ebay, although delivery was about a week the Camera that came was Brand New.
I am very happy with it and a good price too.

However after relection I realised I should of bought locally so that I had a longer warranty and with a shop near to hand.

All is not bad though as I do intend to buy the 40D in September and it will be from Jessops or another local retailer.

Ebay is your best bet if you want to get rid of something in a hurry

Ah - I didn't realise the new regs that were in force. :bonk:

got mine from canon refurb shop on fleabay paid £312 for silver 400d & has full years warranty. I even tried getting £50 back but was pushing it lol

Word of warning refurb ones can to go close to retail because theres always some twit trying to push it higher. Set maximum bid & dont go over, there will be more, keep looking trying you will get one eventually

Got mine from Canon on Ebay as well. First one wouldn't auto-focus, and I think the metering was screwed as well. They're collecting that one for a refund, bought another - seems perfect. Both were indistinguishable from new, and I doubt I'll use it enough to wear the shutter out.

There's a few closing every day so you should be able to pick one up for under £350 with a full warranty.

Got a 28-135 IS Lens as well - very pleased with it so far.

OK, so the exposure isn't right here but the detail is great and the amount of noise for ISO 1600 is minimal.
