Hello, I have a new Canon 400D which had developed a problem. After taking about 20 shots the camera locks up, the LCD goes black and I can not take any more shots. At this point I can not power the camera off, the only way to reset the camera is to take the battery out and put it back in again. Once I have done this the camera powers up OK but will not take a shot (goes round the same loop again).
I suspected the camera was at fault , then thought it might be the battery. I recharged the battery , although the camera battery indicator says it is fuly charged and the camera starts working fine again for about 50 shots then gets the same error. Is this a battery problem or a camera problem. Firmware is latest 1.1.1

Thanks

mine does the same when the battery is flat, the green light stays on at the top but nothing else works, I'd say battery fault.

Taffelade, when your battery is flat does your camera report a flat battery or is the battery indicator reporting a full battery ?

Thanks

I dont really know to be honest, its only run out of charge on me twice and I dont conciously check the indicator to see how much battery I have left. Once it has stopped working I dont put the battery back in untill its fully charged again.

I usually charge the battery before I'm going to be using the camera as I only have the one battery at the moment so dont want to risk it running out half way through the day.
