Hi can anyone help me. i am trying to reset the file number on the camera to start at number one. I have the manual and have done as it instructs but is still carries on from the previous number. I have changed the card, formated and when i take a couple of test shots the number just carries on. I also dont seem to be able to put the camera onto manual reset. I hope i have explained this well enough because its driving me crazy.:bang:

Try turning the program selector to P or TV and trying.
Some features do not when Auto is selected.

Sorry couldn't resist

No just me trying to add a little humor... but never mind

- I'm sure a full reset of the camera will do it? just remove the time and date battery and re-enter the time and date? not sure if this one has a factory reset option in the software.

Edit - just remember to make a not of any other settings you might want to put back

Hi,

I have the 400D and have no problem resetting the file numbering.

i go through the menu to (i believe - not got camera in front of me) the 4th menu and in there you have file numbering, continuous, auto reset or manual reset.

* continuous is, as it says, continuous.
* Auto Reset returns to 0 when the card is removed
* Manual reset is not a setting as such, this will leave the file numbering mode on either of the above (whichever is selected) but will reset the file number to 0.

I hope this helps, this always works for me. if you are stuck you could set it to Auto and remove the CF card.

Hi thanks for that i know see how it works. Thanks for all the comments.
