Canon 400D and extra flashguns

At the moment I have a 400D and 580EX flashgun but would like a further 2 flashguns to be triggered at the same time and my budget is tiny so what would people recommend?

Is there a cheaper manufacturer of flashguns that work with the canon IR system? Is it better to buy a couple of older EZ flashguns and use some kind of ebay remote trigger setup?

The range from camera to the other flashguns is in the region of 6 - 20 feet and I would prefer to not trail wires.

All thoughts welcome.

If I was you I'd buy a trigger system off eBay (under £30, with one transmitter and two receivers). It's lightweight and simple to use. Mine will trigger my Nikon SB600 and my older flashguns. You could probably get a cheap secondhand flash or two and run them off the triggers.

As a guide, I paid £20 for a trigger/receiver set (including postage from China), and then extra receivers are £7 posted.

Sigma produce compatible flash guns for canons EX range, they are a lot cheaper and work well as slaves for 580EX they do a 500 super (there 580 equiv) and a 500 (430 equiv). they can be found on ebay.

I looked at both of those, and they definately can be fired by IR from the master 580EX?

well.. most will advice save up your money, get the high-end model (namely the 580ex), well they're not wrong. it is a good investment cause you dont have to upgrade later on, and the flash it the top of the line (in simple words, paling best laah)but if you're on a budget constraint, get the 430ex.or if you have a very tight budget constraint, get a 3rd party. from what i see, loads of people use the Nissin Di622. and of course there's the Metz, Sigma, Sunpak, and err.. i forgot the others.owh, when you buy a flash gun, it is important to have a flash diffuser. why? let's say that you're taking picture indoor, the ceiling is waaaaay too high. if you bounce it upwards, well.. put it this way, you go outdoor during the night, try and bounce the flash. its like shooting a gun into the air (meaning takde makna nyer lah)so, google things up. there's loads of stuff on the net bout flashguns.
