Canon 3rd party batteries really that bad?

I need another spare for my 450D

Was looking into a 3rd party one but I have read a few bad reports on battery life in comparison to the Canon ones.

any advice?
 
I have bought 2 of these batteries, but yet to test them! I had read that some were just as good, if not better, which I why I decided to take a chance!
 
I have had 3rd party batteries and they are OK, I had a bad one that wouldn't hold a charge and the ebay shop replaced it no questions asked. I paid about a £5 delivered so they are a fair bit cheaper then a genuine Canon battery.

I've had no issues with the ones from 7dayshop. Seems to be the general consesus that they're ok.

Well, not quite. It is still a bit of a lottery what you get. I got two with a third party grip for my 350, the grip was fine but the batteries were utter trash. Two of them wouldn't last nearly as long as a single canon one.
On the other hand, I have two which I think I got from 7dayshop for my 40D and they are every bit as good, if not better than the canon original. Guess quality control varies with the cheapies.
 
I purchased a third party one from eBay for the 500D and have not had any probs, it has lasted as long as the original canon. I've got a batter grip now which I'm using with 6x AAs but thinking about purchasing two more third party batteries.
 
7 day shop for me too.

I have 2 from them for my 40D and they are both better than the original Canon as they last longer.
 
I have a Duracell spare battery for my 40D. Cost me about £12 from the web, and lasts longer than the Canon original.
 
Ive got a 3rd party one from 7dayshop and it lasts just as long as the original canon one
 
I bought a third party one with my third party grip and no probs here, another vote for third party batteries :D
 
I have a number of 3rd party batts and never had an issue most I have had since 2005 :thumbs:
