Hi,

just borrowed one of these...will it work OK with my 40d? It seems to fit OK, just wary of using it in case it can cause damage - from the manual(s) it seems like it should be OK but I really don't understand any of the flashgun terminology yet

yes it will work, though it is quite a basic flash, it only uses E-TTL Too as opposed to E-TTL2 which is the newer technology. It won't damage your 40D either way so you're safe :) (i use mine on a 30D)

E-TTL, E-TTL2

I know it is quite an old flash, but hopefully it will be good enough for me to play around with. Off to search for some lessons on flash!

I've got one, just bought a 430ex, but I am really impressed with the 380ex for what it cost me, does the job.

cool...will have a read of the manuals etc. and see if I can get to grips with it.

There's not much to do with it, just, erm, turn it on.
