Really feel I need this lens as it would be the perfect focal length and is super fast… but I was just wondering if anyone owns it and how they rate it?

I've read a couple of reviews and they seem extremely positive, sharpness being fantastic by the sounds of things. I would be using this for weddings and wondered how people have found it in terms of focus speed in dim light and any issues they've come across in general.

I will hire it for my next wedding in a few weeks to see how it fairs but it would be good to hear people's views on it prior to then :)

I have it Andy. It's one of only two lenses I own. This and the 85mm. I love it. As with any wide aperture, it takes some learning to nail focus wide open but when you do, the results are superb. All I want now is the 24mm F1.4L for something wider and I will be complete I think.

Here are a couple of images from it....

@ F2.2

Wide open @ F1.4

Ooh looks lovely mate... didn't realise it was one you owned. Looks razor sharp in those pics :)

Thanks. Yeah it's a cracker. I know Andyhayball on here uses one in a lot of his work too. Worth taking a look at.

Just placed my order for this and also the Canon f/1.8 85mm... Good bye zooms! :D

Good move. I only have 35mm and 85mm at the moment. Really would like one wider and one longer eventually. Going to rent the 24mm F1.4 II for the next wedding.

Definitely on my wish list. Hope to eventually have 24, 35, 85 and 135 only and no more heavy zooms too!
Don't forget the 50! There is defiantly room for that sucker, I have the 35,50 and 85. Some shots close up are a little too distorted with the 35 so the 50 comes in nicely. The 85mm has a fairly long minimal focus length so the 50mm really does win for anything portrait and up close. Just my rambling anyways. Each lens has it's place depending on distortion and compression for me.

Hi Andy,

I bought this lens a few weeks ago as a walkaround/landscape lens and to get away from zooms.
I have only had the chance to get out with it once up to now, but am quite pleased with it.
Here is an example taken on full frame body.

Nice shot, you must have a great lens ;)

I am very interested in that lens too but can't find any ai servo tests. Can you tell me guys if it's accurate and follows subjects running towards the camera well? Thanks

Sigma AF seems comparable to most Canon L lenses. By that I mean you can expect to get someone moving in focus even at f/1.4. Pretty good...

Some examples please :)
Do you use 2 bodies and attach 2 primes? Is it enough set up or do you change lenses?

Will do once I've edited them :) 2 Bodies and 2 primes 5D MK III with the 35mm & a 6D with the 85mm f/1.8

First time I've shot a wedding with nothing but primes and never intend to go back to zooms!!!

Soulfly :) went for their gig couple of weeks ago in Glasgow Garage - love the band but very disappointed with their performance. Nice picture of them though. The more pictures i see from 35mm lens the more I want it.
I couldn't stay for the show but everyone was very nice to work with. Really good to meet people that have been in the business for twenty years and still remain very professional. Excellent bunch!
