Today as I was just doing my first proper wedding..i take the first photo and the shutter goes off by itself for about 30-40 rapid shots..the first shot was stored..but the rest didn't..worked okish after that but now its started coming up with error 99..had nothing but bad luck with this camera :( Gotta go back to the after party though so wont be able to show you the results just yet hehe If anyone can shed any light on this I would be very grateful..and hopefully i may be able to salvage some photos eeep!

Cheers for that :) Would that also be why the shutter is firing for 30-40 odd shots without me touching the shutter button
Of all the days it decides to play up :bang:

Thats what happens, when you shoot for a money, you have to have back up's for everything, and good liability insurance.

Err99 means ... you need to spend £3k and buy a 1DMkIII. :D

Thanks for all the concern guys..its not looking good..gonna try and clean it sometime this week..got all the pics though so least they are safe..there was another photographer there with a nikon D50,no problems with his *ponders to move to the dark side* oh and it also comes up with an error when I pop the flash up too LOL :bang:
Oldgit - oooooh if only haha..but I would get the 1Dmk II

Pack it up and send it to Canon, better safe than sorry, next time.

:agree:

Err 01 is the error code for a body lens communication error and while the eraser trick might (inadvertently) have fixed something I would send it off to Canon if I were you...

Yup I agree. You may temporarily resolve the situation, but without knowing the real cause, it may crop up again at anytime (especially if it's out of warranty).

I'd personally prefer to get it sorted.

Well....I've cleaned it,taken it's main battery out for nearly an hour, tried it with the nifty and kit lenses..says error 99 for both of them..looks like another trip to Jessops..the camera is only 7mths old and still under guarantee (got it on finance and don't need to pay it off till October)..flash wont pop up either.
And the wedding photos..well says it all really :'( .....

Demand a replacement not a repair. I would. Good luck.

Oh indeedy i shall..need a camera of some sort as I'm popping off to oulton park this weekend to shadow a photographer there as i'm going to be doing some photos for my mates motorsport team..this guy has a 1Dmk2..says I can play around with it *squeeks with excitement*
Shall have to see what they say tomorrow...:boxer:

You can try to demand a replacement, but the retailer isn't under obligation to do so.

You may have a hard time getting a straight replacement from Jessops too because it's a 350, and have been superceded by the 400D.

You are entitled to have the problem rectified under warranty, but Jessops are within their right to get it repaired unfortunately.
They may choose to replace it for you, if the repair is too costly....you never know.

You can try and insist on a repair though, you might get it :D

I stupidly bought the 350D a month before the 400D came out..curse my impatience on getting shiny gadgets! Jessops have been pretty understanding with me,so hopefully they can sort this out and keep at least one happy customer ;) But as long as I get my camera working or they loan me one for this weekend then all shall be spiffing..still miffed with the wedding shots though :(

Jessops do indeed have a heart..got a new 350D
Oops just realised I've stupidly left one of my extreme III cards in the camera...ARRGHH!

s *ponders to move to the dark side*

This happens with Nikon too. I once had a flirt with a NEW 2DH, and after just a few months, I wes getting a non specific error message - I would try to make a capture, and got an 'error' message. Turning the camera on and off cleared it, and it would be fine then for a few hours/days/weeks - whatever it chose. I eventually sent it back to Nikon, and they repaired it, and sent it back, saying that the shutter had failed!! On a new camera!!

I have to admit though, that the service was excellent - less than a week from sending it to Nikon, and getting it back.
