Canon 30d

Hi all,

What would a good price for a used Canon 30D body be? I have an offer of one and would like to know where I should start in the haggling race

Also would it be good investment as a starter body, I know that it's a 'big old beast' but if the price is right surely it would be a good buy.

What would a good 18-135 lens cost me?

I have just bought one for my son. paid £290 virtually brand new, with 6 month warranty still left on it. A sigma 18-125 will cost about £200.

I would expect somewhere between 250 and 300 quid depending on condition and age for a good one. It's an excellent starter camera and for me represents better value for money than any of the xxxD range apart from maybe te 450D.

If you want a great walk about lens I'd recomend the sigma 17-70mm which you can pick up for around £200 second hand.

yup. £250 to £300 is pretty fair.
ive seen em go for stupid money on ebay.
fortunately , we bought an absolute pearler off here.

It's better than a starter camera I brought mine new 2 years ago and still it is the only Digital SLR i use. I think the price range quoted is spot on.

dont want to highjack the thread but i think its relevant. I bought mine about 3 months ago prtty much brand new with a kit lens a tamron 55-200 two 1gb cf's a bag and a semi hard case for £430, too much? too little?

The 30D is an excellent camera and you won't be dissapointed and its not that big or old

I think the 30D is a great camera. It is very similar to use as the 5D. The Build quality and feel of it is better than the 450d and its easyer to use.

30d = amazing camera, go for it, paid £300 for ours, in "as new" condition with 7000 shots on it
